player of the Week

Welcome to our Player of the Week Page

Below you will find our picks for Player of the Week within the Miami Dade basketball community

1/19/20 - Arturo Dean (South Miami)

Averaging 23.5 ppg

He is considered one of the most dangerous Point Guards in Miami.  Arturo played very well in the Wally Keller Classic and during the week versus Homestead averaging 24 points per game, which led South Miami to yet another undefeated week. Arturo brought South Miami's team back to this week's #1 ranked team position and is locked in for being a Mr. Basketball Candidate. Arturo's brother Toru was Miami Mr. Basketball in 2019 and is playing his freshman year at Barry University averaging 7.1 points per game.

12/23/19 - Justin Neely (Miami High)

Mr. 92

Elite scoring is always hard to come by in high school basketball.  However, Justin Neely is playing against some of the best scorers in the state and in his district, but some days he is just different. With offensive rebounds, mid range jump shots, post scoring, and 3 point shooting, it's easy to see that's what his Consistent Arsonal comes with. At 6'5 this wing had an amazing week with scoring 60 points in a game and then followed up with 32 points. He is definitely setting records. Justin Neely is Mr. 92 and player of the week.

12/17/19 - Madison Porras (Lourdes Academy)

5'7 Wing c/o 2020

This Lourdes Academy leading scorer averages 22.7 points per game with a high percentage from the 3-point line. Her career high is an incredible 44 points. Porras has had a few local and out-of-state colleges show interest but ultimately, she hopes to attend UF, UNC or FSU. With a GPA of 4.87 and SAT score of 1440, Porras intends on being Pre-Med in college. This season Porras would like to play St. Thomas Aquinas or any competitive team that challenges her as a player. In the end, she hopes to lead her team to a State Championship. Currently, Lourdes is 11-0.

12/14/19 - Esteban Lluberes (Riviera Prep)

A-Rod Tournament MVP

College coaches, are you looking for a lead guard? Look no further than 2022 Riviera Prep leader Esteban Lluberes. Great floor general, ball handler and tough as nails. This year this A-Rod tournament MVP led Riviera Prep to beating 2 of the top programs in the county (Mater Academy and Schoolhouse Prep) and scored 33 points in the Championship win against Schoolhouse. Please look out for this 5'8 stud.

12/8/19 - Ga'Khari Lacount (Coral Park)

6'2 Combo Guard c/o 2020

Ga'Khari Lacount is leading the county with 32 points per game in the second week of the season. Lacount, the Lynn University signee, scored 73 points in two games. This includes scoring 40 points versus Coral Gables (ranked #2 at the time) on the road against Gables' tough athletic defenders leading his team to a 3-0 record. Lacount is definitely having a great start to the year.

11/22/19 - Joel Aloma (Palmetto)

Palmetto Junior Guard Joel Aloma was nothing short of spectacular last night in a win versus Number 10 ranked Columbus Explorers. With a 3.8 GPA and being a very versatile player, he for sure will be one of Miami's top players. Joel scored 18 points last night on fade-away post ups as well as knocking down shots from the perimeter, defeating a tough Columbus team at home 70-63. We will keep close watch on the 6'3 combo Guard.
